How tasting wine is helping disabled veterans…

We would like to thank you for helping to support the care and rehabilitation of physically disabled veterans. With almost all of our usual events cancelled due to the pandemic, we really appreciate your participation in this virtual event.

Care for Veterans provides long term nursing care, rehabilitation, respite and award-winning end of life care to disabled ex-Service personnel. Read more about what we do.

We receive no regular Government funding, so your support helps us to raise the £1.9m needed each year for us to continue our work caring for veterans such as former Royal Engineer, Steve. Read about how we have helped Steve so far.

We are incredibly proud of the difference we can make at Care for Veterans. We hope you enjoy participating in this event even more knowing how your support helps.

Please find below a few notes that we would appreciate that you read in advance of the event to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Thanks again for your support and we look forward to seeing you on Friday!

The wine list:
  • Devils Creek Sauvignon Blanc.
  • Abbotts and Delaunay Viognier.
  • Passimento Rosso Pasqua.
  • Definition Pinotage.
  • Guv’nor Spanish Tempranillo.

Apologies that there is not a port on the tasting list, but we have been advised by Majestic Wine that this would not be a good fit, so has been replaced with a red wine.

Zoom

We will be asking you to join us on Zoom by sending you a link to a meeting. If you haven’t used Zoom before, we recommend visiting the site (https://support.zoom.us) and testing it out on your computer or the device you want to use. You may prefer to download the app. We would hate for any technical hitches to hinder your enjoyment of the evening and delay the tasting of your wine!

Take a selfie to enter our prize draw!

We may be physically apart, but we can feel more connected! We would love it you could take a selfie and share it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #CfVWine or send it to us via email at fundraising@careforveterans.org.uk.

If you feel like dressing up the occasion, even better! We will draw the lucky winner on Wednesday 17th February 2021. There will also be prizes for the most imaginative and best dressed!

Snacks with wine
  • Bread or biscuits to cleanse the palette between each wine.
  • If you would like cheese to accompany your wine, then we recommend a hard French cheese or a cheddar, but a mild one.
  • Olly's discount voucherWe are lucky to have Olly’s supporting us who are giving ticket holders a 20% discount off their whole range of natural nibbles. Visit ollys-ollys.com and use the code CFVWine2021 to get a 20% discount (expires 19th February 2021).
Wine glasses

It is recommended to drink each wine from a clean glass. Ideally, you will have five glasses each (one for each wine) or at least two glasses so you have the time to rinse them between tastes.

Plus, there is going to be a surprise at the end of the wine tasting – there is a raffle ticket in this envelope, please keep it safe!
