Worthing allotments are owned by the Council but run by a committee of volunteers who are responsible for the general upkeep of the sites. Much emphasis is put on creating a good environment for humans and wildlife. It is a peaceful, but vibrant place.
During your guided tour you will visit our horticultural shop (run by volunteers), the wildlife area, ‘a secret garden’, learn about beekeeping from local experts, and meet our working party.
See how people use scrap and plastic in useful and fun ways and finish off on the communal plot for tea, coffee and homemade cake.
A few parts of the tour are unsuitable for wheelchair users and those who are unstable on their feet, but most of the tour is on flat ground.
Visitors are asked to wear closed footwear – no open toe sandals or flip flops please. Whilst most of the visit will be conducted on the pathways through the site, parts of the tour do include walking amongst the plots.
