The residents and staff at Care for Veterans are all greatly saddened to hear of Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. We collectively thank Her Majesty for the seventy years of exceptional service to our country and send our deepest condolences to all those grieving.
On Monday 12th September, residents gathered to plant a flower bed in tribute to Her Majesty The Queen. Led by resident and avid gardener Carol Bennet, and with the help of volunteers Paul and Nick, they created a beautiful bed of purple flowers, with the initials ‘E.R.’ for Elizabeth Regina made in bricks.
On Thursday 15th September, the Mayor of Worthing, Cllr Henna Chowdhury, will be visiting Care for Veterans with the Book of Condolences so that residents and staff may write a message of condolence.
To mark our respect, Care for Veterans’ flag sits at half-mast for the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. It will remain this way until 8:00am on the morning following The Queen’s funeral.
On Friday 9th September, Father George held a service in memory of Her Majesty The Queen. On the day of The Queen’s funeral (Monday 19th September), a second service will be held to celebrate her life.
All residents and staff will be welcomed into the Wellbeing Hub on Monday 19th September to watch The Queen’s funeral live on TV.
