Festive fun raises thousands for veterans and their families

The recent Christmas Fayre at Care for Veterans was a resounding success, raising over £6,100 for Veterans and their families. The Fayre attracted community members from across Worthing for an afternoon of festive cheer.

Held on Saturday 29 November at the Care for Veterans Home on Boundary Road, the free event included over 20 stalls offering handcrafted gifts, seasonal treats, arts and crafts activities, and more. There was also a festive grotto, live entertainment, raffle, games for all ages and a warm community atmosphere.

Among those in attendance was Cathy Glynn-Davies, Worthing’s Mayor, who joined residents, staff, and the community in celebration, as well as local MP Beccy Cooper.

All proceeds from the Fayre will go towards supporting Care for Veterans’ vital work, providing long-term nursing, rehabilitation, respite and end-of-life care to veterans and their families who live with disabilities, including acquired brain injury and degenerative neurological conditions. The Home is now part of the Royal Star & Garter group, following a merger with the charity earlier this year.

This year’s Christmas Fayre was truly special,” said Andy Cole, Chief Executive at Royal Star & Garter. “It was fantastic to see residents, families, volunteers and the wider community come together to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of festive fun. The day was a real celebration of community spirit, and I’m thrilled with how successful it was.
