Local Business Supports Disabled Veterans with Charity Initiative

Local Estate Agents Mint Acorn Property have kindly offered to extend their support to disabled veterans’ charity Care for Veterans.

Managing Director of Mint Acorn Property Dave Hughes has created a charity initiative so that clients selling a home through his business could initiate donations of £100 to Care for Veterans.

Dave shared “If Care for Veterans is mentioned by a client when they’re looking to sell their Flat, Maisonette, House or Bungalow, then a £100 donation will be made upon completion of the sale by Mint Acorn Property”.

Dave noted, “Retirement properties and shared ownership properties would be excluded from this offer, and it is not to be used in conjunction with any other offer”.

Current residents in Care for Veterans’ 60-bed facility are aged between 20 and 102 years old. The majority have an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) or a degenerative neurological condition, such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease and Parkinson’s. As an independent provider, the charity can fill the gaps often found between healthcare and social services.

Each year, the charity needs to raise £1.5 million to continue these vital services. With no government funding available, support from businesses and the community is crucial to the future of Care for Veterans.

When asked what had inspired this philanthropic gesture, Dave said, “We wanted to support Care for Veterans as we like to give back and support charities in the local community.  My grandparents served in World War II and met during the War, with my grandma working as a nurse and my grandfather a soldier”.
