Fundraising From Home

Whether you’re into baking, fitness, socialising or gaming, here are some exciting ideas for how you can support Care for Veterans from the comfort of your home.

Help Care for Veterans provide crucial care for our veterans in your community and their loved ones, in this time of need.

Host a virtual social event

Virtual dinner party – invite your friends to dinner over webcam. You can all donate to attend, or pay what you would have spent dining out. For even more fun, set up your own Come Dine With Me or Ready, Steady, Cook challenge!

Movie night – use the Netflix Party Chrome Extension to host a movie night for you and your friends, with everyone logging on from their sofa at home and donating the cost of a cinema ticket.

Play games

Online pub quiz – become the quizmaster and raise a glass with your friends and family! You could host the quiz on video chat or send questions by email.

Power-Up! – whether you’re into Fortnite dances or speed running Sonic, stream your favourite video games for charity.

Virtual showdown – challenge your friends and family to a poker night, chess tournament, Dungeons & Dragons or bingo over video chat, with a donation per entry and a prize for the winner!

Use your skills

Run a class – teach your friends something new, like online yoga, a language or cooking class. Or you could send recipes by email for a donation.

Give a gift – use your creativity for a good cause! Write poems, songs, craft something, or draw portraits to raise money. You can send these to people online or at a later date.

Fundraise with colleagues

Get them giggling – take dares from your co-workers! Will you wear a funny costume on video call, work from your bath or serenade your team?

Team social – get together with your colleagues for a post-work social through video chat and donate what you would have spent on drinks and snacks! You could also add the cost of your collective commutes.

Get active

Choose your challenge – pick an exercise to do every day for a month – anything from jumping jacks to hopping on your exercise bike if you have one – and ask friends and family to sponsor you to keep it up!

Most in a minute – who can do the most sit ups, kick ups or squats in a minute? Challenge your friends, family and colleagues and ask for videos as proof!

Take on a challenge

Do you dare? – ask your friends and family to send you dares and film yourself carrying them out! Will you shave your head, or eat a whole chilli?

Kind gestures – ask for donations from friends of family for completing acts of kindness, like delivering shopping to a neighbour.

Do some hair raising – grow your hair out and get sponsorships from your friends and colleagues, and donate the money you save on haircuts!

Fundraise with kids

Indoor sports day – host an indoor challenge event for your children. Who can do the most handstands, keepie uppies, or stay silent for the longest?

Chores for cash – challenge your kids to raise money by completing tasks like cooking, washing up and tidying their rooms, with prizes for meeting their goals!
