The Worthing community came together to celebrate the magic of Christmas at a much-loved annual Carol Concert.
The event, put on by Care for Veterans on Sunday 14 December at the stunning Lancing College Chapel, raised nearly £8,000.
All proceeds will go towards the charity’s vital work, providing long-term nursing, rehabilitation, respite and end-of-life care to veterans and their families living with disabilities, including acquired brain injury and degenerative neurological conditions. Earlier this year, Care for Veterans became part of the Royal Star & Garter group following a merger with the charity.
The concert created a warm and uplifting afternoon of festive music, readings and reflection, all in support of Care for Veterans.
Guests were welcomed with an Opening Prayer from Reverend George Butler, Chaplain at Care for Veterans, before enjoying an atmospheric programme of carols and seasonal performances. Much-loved Christmas classics were brought to life by the Sussex Gruffs Male Voice Choir and Inspirations Community Choir, under the direction of Lucy Goldberg, filling the Chapel with rich harmonies.
Royal Star & Garter group Chief Executive Andy Cole said:
“It was wonderful to see so many members of the community come together to celebrate at the carol concert. The event was a huge success, bringing a warm and festive feeling to such a beautiful space, while helping to support our veterans and their families.”
The audience also heard from Pete Boylan, who spoke movingly about the journey of his son Steve Boylan, who served in the Army and is now a resident at Care for Veterans.
Care for Veterans would like to send heartfelt thanks to Lancing College Chapel, sponsors Hemiko and AG Morriss, Sussex Gruff and Inspirations Choir groups, Worthing Cadet volunteers and for everyone who attended to celebrate for a good cause.
