What We Do > Speech Therapy
The speech therapy service provides support to residents with swallowing difficulties and/or communication difficulties which may be the result of stroke, progressive neurological conditions or cognitive decline.
We run regular speech intelligibility sessions, provide adaptive technology communication, as well as carrying out individual swallowing and language assessments. These sessions enable residents with communication difficulties to interact more easily with friends and family, and to better express their needs and desire to carers.
“I worked with the speech therapist who helped rectify some of my speech difficulties and my diet was modified to bringing my diabetes under control. I also worked hard with the physiotherapists and learnt how to walk again. Thanks to all our efforts I was able to walk my daughter down the aisle at her wedding”. Resident
