Stewart Butcher

Royal Voluntary Service

I was born in Ealing and then moved to Surrey in 1963. I trained as a Master Baker within the family business. The business is still active however, though its main activity now is within Property and Property management; however, I am still in the kitchen making bread, pastries, and apparently my Ginger Cake is out of this world!! Not my quote.

My charity involvement started some time ago. I was a founder of a charity based in Surrey that delivered Teddy bears into A&E departments in Surrey hospitals.  I became Chairman in 2001 and by the time I stepped down in 2021 we had supplied 12 A&E departments with over 12,000 bears a year.

I also work for an independent charity based in Chelsea. I manage its mixed property portfolio. The Charity has two major benefactors in Chelsea and Harefield Middlesex. I have recently become involved with the Royal Voluntary Service as a First Responder, working alongside Surrey & Sussex Ambulance service.  I am extremely proud to be asked to become an Ambassador for ‘Care for Veterans’ and hope I can have a worthwhile impact on the Charity in the future.
