21st Century IT facilities-keeping residents in touch
In 2012 we were awarded funds from The Ian Karten Charitable Trust to become a Karten CTEC Centre and now have state-of-the-art adaptive computer technology and communication aids such as webcams, Skype, Nintendo Wii , iPads, X-Box Kinect, interactive white boards and speech assisted software.
For most of us, dealing with our correspondence is something we take for granted. But for disabled residents, it is very important to manage without having to rely on someone else. This equipment enables residents to learn and develop skills in technology, giving them back their independence and enabling them to use 21st Century technology to stay in touch with friends and family.
